Privacy Policy
Discovery Loop, Inc. ("Discovery Loop," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website at discoveryloop.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit or interact with the Site, how we use and share it, and the rights and choices available to you.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us. If you contact us by email (for example, at info@discoveryloop.com), we collect your email address, your name if you provide it, and the contents of your message. If you apply for a position through the careers link on our Site, your application is collected and processed by our recruiting vendor, Ashby, and is subject to Ashby's privacy policy as well as this one.
Information collected automatically (analytics). We use Google Analytics 4 ("Google Analytics"), a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors find and use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, the site that referred you to us, your browser and device type, and your approximate geographic region (derived from your IP address; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses). Google Analytics processes this information subject to the Google Ads Data Processing Terms. For more information about how Google collects and processes data when you use sites like ours, visit How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
We have configured Google Analytics to limit how our data may be shared with or used by Google for its own purposes. We do not use Google Analytics advertising features, and we do not send Google any information that directly identifies you (such as your name or email address).
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
- understand aggregate patterns of Site usage (for example, which pages are most visited and how visitors found us);
- respond to your inquiries; and
- receive and evaluate job applications.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. We do not use the Site to serve targeted advertising.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only with:
- Service providers that process information on our behalf — Google (analytics) and Ashby (recruiting) — under contracts that limit their use of the information;
- Authorities or other parties when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Discovery Loop, our users, or others; and
- Successor entities in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business, in which case this Privacy Policy will continue to apply to the transferred information unless you are notified otherwise.
4. Cookies and Your Choices
Google Analytics sets analytics cookies in your browser. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so will not prevent you from using the Site. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking across the web by installing Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The Site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.
5. Data Retention
Analytics data in Google Analytics is retained for 14 months (as configured in our Google Analytics settings). Emails and job applications are retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy and our ordinary business records.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information under our control. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. International Visitors
The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States and that Google may process analytics data on its servers worldwide under its data processing terms.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:
- California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know, access, correct, and delete personal information we hold about you; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it, as those terms are defined by the CCPA); and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
- EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR): the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Our legal bases for processing are legitimate interests (site analytics and improvement, responding to inquiries) and, where applicable, your consent (analytics cookies) and steps prior to entering a contract (job applications).
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@discoveryloop.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the revised Policy.
